Your body is giving you signs!

I used to be the sort of Mum who would take her kids to the doctor every time they were sick. Whenever they had a fever I would give them ‘Calpol’, bundle them up, and take them to see the doctor.

Until I couldn’t anymore.

My son was becoming a regular visitor at the local doctor’s office because he seemed sick so often, with one thing or another. None of it was life threatening – thankfully, but it sure took it’s toll on us with sleepless nights and excessive crying – and no reason.

You may have heard this before, but my son was the reason I HAD to find a new way to look at health.

Every visit to the doctor gave us one more ‘band aid’ solution, but really we were just fire fighting. We couldn’t get to the root of why he was sick. I figured it was purely physical and if we treated it, everything would heal.

What I didn’t really understand at a very deep level was how much our body is controlled by our mind. I thought it was the other way round!

Apparently, it doesn’t work quite like that!

Warning Signs

Your body shows quite obvious warning signs that all is not well, and it normally goes way deeper than that. A physical symptom or sickness is often the peak of an underlying issue.

Mental, spiritual and emotional are the other areas that reflect dis-ease in your life. These other 3 are not diagnosed as easily, and that may be because they cause you to ask the difficult questions and admit the truth about what you may be trying to hide (or hide from!). They involve asking more detailed questions about lifestyle and changes.

For example, Practitioners and Doctors of natural medicine and healing always have a very detailed series of questions so they can take a ‘holistic’ approach. They want to know what you’re like when you’re well, and what events or situations may have caused you to be in dis-ease.

They may find out that there has been a recent house move, a death in the family, a divorce or even just stress due to a school, work situation or money concerns. On the surface, these things wouldn’t effect your health – or would they?

Changes in the family situation, or even changes at school can shake the foundations of young children – yet most people say ‘they’re too young to understand’ or ‘they’ll be fine, they’re only young’. Don’t be so sure!

Any family or life style changes can affect young children if it’s different to what they’ve been used to – they don’t have the same coping strategies that adults have.

But get this…

Your body’s trying to keep you healthy

It’s common to find that the body gives a perfect metaphor for what we keep saying. eg, shoulder pain when you have too much responsibility, neck pain when you are dealing with someone who is literally ‘a pain in the neck’, finger pain and stiffness when you don’t want to let something in your life go, or you’re losing your ‘grip’ on something.

My favourite source of reference for these situations is ‘You Can Heal Your Life’ by Louise Hay. She pin points different parts of the body, and the message it’s trying to convey.

It’s just time to take it easy

Being sick at Christmas or when you go on vacation is the perfect example of your body trying to help you heal. If you’ve been doing more than normal, or working to tighter deadlines, it’s an additional strain on your body. As soon as that strain is lifted, your body FORCES you to stop.

Often getting a cold, or some sort of stomach flu is just a way of making you stop, pay attention to getting rest, and may stop you over eating, or eating foods that don’t help your health.

Ever noticed how many kids get sick between Halloween and Christmas – you don’t think it’s anything to do with all the candy do you?

Same goes for over indulging over Thanksgiving and Christmas – it seems fun at the time, but the sickness afterwards is just your body rebalancing.

Natural remedies

If you really want to know what’s causing your sickness, start by taking a look at your calendar! What are you doing, or what has happened that is out of the ordinary – not just in the last 24 hours, but over a period of weeks or even months.

If you can’t figure it out, then go to someone who can help to support your body in it’s own healing – perhaps something like Reiki, or an energy healer. You could see a Naturopath or a Homeopath. They work in a way that supports your physical, emotional, mental and spiritual healing.

Hopefully this post will save you from having to wait in doctor’s office either for you or your kids – when you really should be taking it easy at home, resting and helping your body to heal. If you want to start considering a new way to look at you and your kids’ health, lets talk.

If you like this, please share it and hopefully we can start to take more control of healing ourselves naturally!
